TBRA publishes over one hundred freelance submissions a year.  We purchase one-time rights for $100 per submission upon acceptance.  The best submissions are in first person.  All submissions must be at least 850 words, and no more than 2,000. We welcome your submissions, and thank you in advance for sharing your talent of writing with us. 

 

The literature is written specifically for oral interpretation. This means that each book of the TBRA series is written to be read aloud, and to meet the time constraints of competition

 

By submitting, you are supporting high school arts and sharing your gift of writing with students and teachers nationally.

 

• All submissions should be written by authors born in one of the following states; Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia  

• Submissions should be at least 850 words and no more than 2,000 words 

• Submissions should explore experiences that visit the culture, heritage, struggle, triumph, or mystique of life in the South.  
• Submissions should be attached as a ".doc" (Word '97- 2003)

• Submissions should be sent to submissions@tobereadaloud.org
  • Include: Author Name, Selection Name, in email subject line (i.e. Subject: Michael Powell, Ninety Seconds)

You can submit selections that do not fit in the above criteria; however, the above criteria selections will priority.
If you submit, and do not meet the criteria, please understand your selection will be read and considered for furture publications.
